Forum Discussion
Tried two days ago to import a new PPTX file and the import failed. I get the error message, "Failed to import PowerPoint presentation", and I reviewed the document pointed to (no passwords/security issues). Like Paul, corp IT manages the updates and because of our DoD related business, these are up to date. The feature was working fine early last week for me, but I noticed an update was installed August 22, 2023. There is another location that is having the same problem, and we need to get this resolved soon. Ideas?
Hi Cynthia!
Sorry to hear you've also run into issues when importing PowerPoint files to Storyline! I'd be happy to help troubleshoot and have some follow-up questions to start.
- Are you working locally? We recommend you Create, Edit, and Publish Courses on Your Local Hard Drive while authoring to avoid erratic behavior.
- Does your Storyline course contain a screen recording? Our team is actively monitoring a known issue that causes PowerPoint imports to fail after inserting a screen recording.
- Did this behavior begin after upgrading to the latest version of Storyline 360? Also, does reverting back to build 3.78.30747.0 produce the same issue?
If you're willing to share copies of the affected files, our support engineers would be happy to investigate this further. You can share them here in this discussion or privately through a support case.
We'll delete them from our system as soon as we're finished!

Hi Cynthia,
Sorry, but it seems the URL from Steven's reply was blocked by your network when you quoted it, so the rest of your message was snipped. Do you mind resending your post above? You can edit out the hyperlinks if you'd like to quote Steven.
Thanks!

Yes, always on C:/ drive. Does your Storyline course contain a screen recording? Our

No screen recordings.. Did this behavior begin after upgrading to the latest version
of Storyline 360? Also, does reverting back to build 3.78.30747.0 produce
the same issue? The problem continues to exist when reverting back to build
3.78.30747.0 ( and build 3.77.30587.0), where courses were successfully
produced but now new PPTX files can no longer be importedI'll be happy to share files in a private support case as I'm not allowed to
distribute content on a potentially public location. Please let me know what
files I need to send.Thank you very much for your assistance,
