Issues Importing PowerPoints in to Storyline

Here are a couple of issues that I have run into when importing PowerPoints to Storyline and publishing for the Web.  First, and most importantly, when I publish for the Web, my speakers notes are being published with black text.  The problem is I am using the modern player with the dark theme.  So the text is coming out black on a black/dark background.  How can I adjust the color of the notes in Storyline?  Second, when a slide title is formatted to be small caps, Storyline is converting the text field to be an image.  Now my slide titles are unable to be edited in Storyline.   If anyone has suggestion for the speakers notes issue, that would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks

  • Hello Ari, and welcome to E-Learning Heroes. 😊

Thank you for reaching out and sharing what you are experiencing when importing your PowerPoint file into Storyline.

We have an open issue specific to the notes text defaulting to black on a black background when Modern Player with the dark theme is used. I've attached this conversation to our report so that we can share any updates with you here.

We have a few workarounds noted:

    • Manually change notes text to white
    • Use the light theme in player
    • Customer workaround:
      1. Before importing a PowerPoint file into Storyline, I changed the color of the Notes font.
      2. View > Notes Master > Highlight the type for each level in the Notes box beneath the slide and change it to the color you want it to be
      3. When I changed the font color to white in PowerPoint, it imported into Storyline as white in the notes section in the editing view, and the Notes view in the output. This does not affect the color of your font in the notes section in the editing view in PowerPoint, but if you were to try and print out your slides with notes in PowerPoint, you wouldn't see anything in your notes section beneath the slide.

You also mentioned a text field importing as an image. I'd like you to share your Articulate Package with our support engineers to investigate what's happening with your permission. You can share it privately by uploading it here. It will be deleted when troubleshooting is complete.
