Previous button - to the previous slide in the sequence of slides or the last slide visited?
I'm getting ready to go through my course now to set a trigger on each slide to set PREVIOUS to go to the previous slide in the sequence rather than the last slide visited. Need this because when users choose a slide from the menu they get thrown off when PREV takes them back to the earlier slide (often in another lesson) rather than the previous slide in the current lesson.
I seem to remember a thread about an option of 'previous slide visited' or 'previous slide in the sequence'. Does anyone else remember that? And, yes, we would have to have use triggers to move from one lesson to another, but that would still be a lot less work than a trigger on each individual screen.

Thanks, Maria. I just wanted to be sure I wasn't missing something.
And, yes, the current functionality is similar to a browser back button....but training isn't the same as browsing. We organize our courses to move through material in a logical sequence that best suits the material and builds the learner's thinking, so having an option for last viewed or previous screen in the sequence would be a real time saver over manually adding a trigger to each screen.
If anyone else reading this would like this choice, perhaps you could chime in. I imagine one consideration for what makes it to the feature roadmap is community requests.
Thanks for your help, Maria!

Hi,
It seems like the roadmap is only focusing on Rise 360.
The option to use the previous button to go to previous slide instead of "browser back button" without setting it manually on each slide would really be great. - AudreyRice-ffa8Community Member
I second the motion to have the Previous button go to the previous slide in the SEQUENCE, not the one that was visited. As someone noted earlier, browsing training material is not the same as browsing the internet.
Please let us easily change this option rather than forcing us do the laborious task of programming each and every slide. Some of our videos are close to 100 slides!
Thanks in advance.

Hi Audrey!
Thanks for sharing feedback on the type of functionality you'd like to see in Storyline 360!
I've included you in the feature report and will update this discussion as soon as we have news to share. If you'd like to stay up to date, you can bookmark our Feature Roadmap.

This is a feature we began requesting a number of years ago.

Hi BJ!
I'd like to look at the Test ID you are referring to. Could you point me in the right direction?

Hi, Carrie.
Thank you for reaching out!
The Jump to Previous trigger in Storyline is related to the previously viewed slide (similar to a browser back button), not necessarily the slides' sequence.
While you can't set this automatically for every slide, the best way to ensure the navigation you need is to manually point to the specific slide number you want the user to go to.
We also have a feature request logged to allow users to set the logic for the Previous slide trigger.
I'm adding this discussion to the report, and I will come back to update you if I have any news to share or if this request makes it to our feature roadmap.

I just wrote a similar request, and now see yours too.

Yep! And, Joe, your name looks familiar...do I remember you from back in Authorware days??
- NtambaraFredCommunity Member
Has this been implemented in new updates yet? It's a pain to have to manually select previous slide numbers for a very long course.
Hi Ntambara!
Thanks for reaching out and sharing the feedback! I don't have any updates to share at this time as we prioritize other features, but I've included your voice in the Feature Report and will update this thread if it makes it on our feature roadmap.
Hope you have a great weekend!

+1 for a Previous button behaviour setting. Using it like a browser's Back button doesn't make much sense in an eLearning course. I am quite baffled how a simple feature like this gets put on the back burner, behind other super low priority items that they fix or update.

Still no improvement here?

This is a 508 standard and would be most appreciated if we could set previous to the previous slide in sequence.
