Promt to resume - prevent cheating

Your issue, unfortunately, is a browser security issue.

Some LMS systems let you configure (usually globally) a browser lock-down function. When the user opens a course, all browser functions (including CTRL+F5) are locked out.

Storyline, in short, acts like a webpage that, when closed submits cookies to the server (unless you use TinCan, then it submits on every Next button click). Allowing a user to close a window via the X button terminates the connection and LMS communication.

The window that is opened is served by the LMS and any parameters that the window contains are served with it from the LMS.

I hope this information helps you understand the LMS needs to control this.

But I don't know if you get me right - or if I explained my problem precisely enough.

I like the resume option. I want the learner to have the possibility to resume. But I don't want that they are able to resume to the question when they allready have seen the feedback (and correct answer) for this question.

After all question, the learner receive a direct feedback in my WBT. Without changing anything, articulate is serving the feedback on a special layer. But as long as a learner will return to the question (base layer) when he restarts the course, the feedback by question and the promt to resume option can't be used at once.

Is there any setting, that channels users back to the layer they have been to? Or something like that?

The slides sound like they are set to sestet to initial state, try setting them to resume saved state.

Also the feedback layers continue button have a hide layer trigger on them, delete that and the feedback layer will stay there

I'd agree with Phil, it sounds like you may need to change the slide's revisiting properties, and you can update the feedback layer's triggers as well to not automatically hide the layer when the user clicks the continue button. You could change it to jump to the next slide when they click "Continue"

I set the question slides to "resume to saved state".  And deleted all hiding triggers on the "Correct" and "Incorrect" feedback layers.

Please find below a story-file as example.

Thanks for sharing that here, and I did a bit more digging about resuming to the slide layer and determined that Storyline automatically saves slide information when a learner advances to another slide, but if a learner is on a slide and clicks the Course Exit button or closes the browser window, the state of that slide isn’t saved because he or she hasn’t yet proceeded to a different slide. That is why when you go back, it returns to the initial state of the base slide. Currently this is by design. 

As a workaround, you might want to use slides instead of layer before doing the jump to URL/File trigger. You may also find the following article useful:

I'm having the exact same problem. Boris, did you try to redesign your storyline file to use slides instead of layers to help prevent restarting the question? And, if so, did it work? Thanks!
