Recording Learner Microphone

I am trying to find a way to make an exercise that allows the learner to speak a specific script, and then to validate the results to ensure phonetic and verbiage accuracy. I have looked at a few threads about this topic, but it seems a bit dated. Have any newer solutions been found?
