Remove automatic glow effect in questions
Hello! I am very happily building freeform questions in Articulate Storyline 360. I love how this question type allows me to customize the questions the way I like.
However, I noticed that my questions get automatic "glowing" states, for example when a user selects a specific answer option. I know it is possible to remove these per shape under "shape effect", but it is quite a hassle as my answer options often consist of about 12 different shapes for 4 response options. If I build 10 questions types, I have to remove these 120 times (or even more if I have multiple states).
Is there a way to turn off the "glow" option all together for any future questions that I will develop? It does not fit our branding style, so I like using my own effects instead (flat hover over/selection colors for the shapes).
Thank you!

It's a pain, isn't it! But don't forget about the format painter tool. Although I've been noticing some inconsistencies in 360 over whether it will actually copy states or not...

Hi Erin,
Yes, the format painter is a good tip! It indeed does not always work, oddly.. I also often copy one button for which I created all states and paste it a few times, but it does not always copy all states with it. I guess it's just something to live with. :)
Hey Evelien!
I agree with Erin that the Format Painter should help! It will copy both formatting and states.
When you double-click the Format Painter button, it'll remain active until you turn it off. This lets you apply the same formatting to multiple objects.

Same for me, that's one of my biggest frustration!
It's ugly and useless!

My workaround is to make sure at least one element (either shape or text), in the group, has a glow effect on it.
For example, each of my answer choices are are made up of two shapes (a triangle and a rectangle) and a textbox. When the group is selected, the triangle has a glow and the rectangle and text does not.
I've noticed that even when I click through each element and manually remove the glow, the entire group will glow. If at least one element in the group is assigned a glow, the rest of the elements will stop automatically glowing and you change the rest on your selected state elements how you see fit.

If anyone is struggling with this, I came up with another (limited) workaround: edit the Accent 5 colour in your theme so that it is the same as the slide background colour.
NOTE: this will only work if all slides have the same background colour and your items are against the background.
To do this:
Go to the Design tab and select Colours
Right click on your theme and choose Edit
Change the colour of Accent 5 to match the background that your items are in front of.Thanks for sharing that workaround, Anushka! I'm sure our community members will find that helpful.
Have a great weekend ahead.
