Remove gradient from checkbox

Hello community,

I love to use the premade checkboxes from the Insert/inteactive objects tab, because they simply save time.

Until they don't...

I'm currently working on a project in a flat cartoon style and that gradient in the check fill just really doesn't fit... and I can't remove it.

If I change the color under Format/Check Fill, the gradient is still there. Usually if there is an annoying gradient I just change the Shape Style or Shape Fill, but that doesn't work with the limited Check Styles.

 

After some research I managed to remove that weird glow from the hover state by selecting another Shape Style. (Thanks Megan Clare! How to remove glow around check box on question slide - Articulate Storyline Discussions - E-Learning Heroes)


But I can't seem to find a solution for the gradient problem...

I mean, it would be simple if the Check Styles had the same options as the Shape Styles, but that would make life to easy, wouldn't it?


So, any ideas?

    Hi Sabrina, 

    Happy to help!

    You can remove the fill for the checkboxes shown in your screenshot by going to the "Check fill" option in the CHECK BOX tab and selecting "No fill".

    Let me know if this works for you!

    It does remove the gradient, because there is nothing 😆


    But sadly that doesn't help if I conditioned the user that flat yellow filled shapes are clickable.

    So ideally, I would need it filled with yellow, but without a gradient.

      Hi Sabrina, 

      Thanks for the additional information. It looks like the gradient is built-in for checkboxes, but this sounds like it would make a great feature request to raise with our product team!

    Hi, Sabrina,

    You can insert a yellow rectangle (or other shape) into the states of the response.  In other words, select one of the responses, click EDIT STATES, and the insert the shape. 

    When the shape is the size and position you want, copy it (for pasting into other states), and then send it to the back of that state. 

    • I found that the shape would also show in some states if I only pasted it in the Normal state. But it wouldn't show in the Selected state. So I suggest just pasting it into every state. 
    • Set up one response, and then use the Format Painter to apply it to the other responses. 

    The attached file has a sample.

    Hi Judy,

    that is a great workaround. I'll try that.

    Would be awesome if the gradient wasn't in-built, though 😆
