Renumber Slides
Oh, thanks for clarifying the issue.
Do the slides have triggers that jump to "next slide," or do they jump to specific slides (e.g., "jump to slide 3.7")?
Storyview does its best to display the layout based on how slides are connected. That can impact whether the slides appear in numerical order for a linear set of slides.
If that's not the issue, you could try the usual steps that support suggests: Quit Storyline and relaunch the course. Be sure you're working on your local drive. Beyond that, I suggest you contact support directly.

I have it directed to specific slides because I'm worried it will go to 3.2-3.3 and skip everything in between. I was hoping closing and reopening would fix it. But it's been like this since yesterday.

Sometimes, if you drag and drop the misnumbered slide to its current place (I know that sounds weird) but make sure you see an arrow below the previous slide and the previous slide selected, it will update the numbering after you drop it into place. Hopefully you can see my .gif of the arrow I'm referring to here:
Since you've set the triggers to jump to specific slides, this may get a little hairy. You may need to first set slide 3.8's "next" trigger back to simply "next slide" and slide 3.3's previous trigger to simply "previous slide," drag it in place, and then boom, it should renumber automatically.
