Reserved Characters in Slide Title: Workaround
I work on technical training, and we use reserved characters. Is there a way to use a reserved character as the leading character in a slide title? Is there a setting or code workaround?
I can use <, but I need to include a space?
For example, we use < , >, and : often.
Thank you.

I can verify that as a bug, suspect it is processing it as html
Hello BJ,
Thanks for reaching out!
I tested this behavior by adding <Test> as the course's slide title and I had no problems with getting it to publish and display properly.
Would you mind sharing the exact title you're using, where you have it added to your course, and a screenshot of what it looks like when published so we can check what's happening?

Good day, Jose! Sure! The title is:
<<Verify>> Relationships
Hi BJ,
Thanks for following up with my colleague Jose. Happy to pop in!
I tested this on my end, and this is what I am experiencing:
- Are you experiencing this as well? Feel free to share a screenshot of what you are seeing.
Additionally, please share your .story file with us. It will be helpful to look at your project file to have a better understanding of what you are experiencing. Feel free to share in this thread or privately in a support case.
Looking forward to hearing from you!

Good day and thank you!
I'm not sure what I'm looking at here. I'm thinking it is the title next to the hamburger icon. The issue I have is with a slide title, not the course title.
The slide title should be: <<Verify>> with no spacing. If I type it this way, the slide displays as <>; removing the middle characters. If I add a space after and before the < and > like this, << Verify >>, it shows the title, but with the spaces.
Looks like I will need to create a support case.

I don't have an issue adding it as a slide title

Oh, my! I think I left out an important piece of information. I'm using the slide function: %Menu.SlideTitle%

Thanks, Phil! The easy work-around is to just not use the slide function on that slide. I will be working on LOTS of this type of training material, so looking to keep it simple by using the slide function, %Menu.SlideTitle%.

The workaround in html to display those characters doesn’t work.
I don’t want to suggest hard coding it but that’s the easiest way to fix.
I think this is over to Articulate to fix.

Hi BJ!
Thanks for following up! Glad to see Phil has been helping you!
It would be easier to troubleshoot this behavior if we could see a copy of the .story file that's giving you trouble. I've opened a support case on your behalf so you can work directly with our support engineers. Also, you should have received an e-mail with an upload link you can use to share your file privately.
We can continue the conversation through your case to keep all information in one spot.

Thank you! I sent the file.

Seems the << and >> are reserved characters for variables. My workaround is to not use the slide title (%Menu.SlideTitle%) for those pages. I will create a separate slide master for those.
Thanks everyone for the assistance!

try for the slide name
- «verify» (0xAB, 0xBB Left/Right-Pointing Double Angle Quotation Mark)
- ‹‹verify›› (U+2039, 0x9B Single Left-/Right-Pointing Angle Quotation Mark)
