Returning to Complete a course and Retaining Progress

I am looking to see if there is a way to allow a user to begin a Storyline360 course and return to the course without losing their initial progress, would this be a modification to the Storyline360 course itself or the learning management platform where the course is published?

    A user can resume a Storyline course when it is presented in a Learning Management System (LMS) or Learning Record Store (LRS). 

    If the course is presented outside of an LMS/LRS, Storyline doesn't have anywhere to store the data needed to resume the course. In other words, if it's just presented on a website, the user will lose their progress if they exit the course.
