Rise 360 - Quiz question tracking`
Hi all,
I'm looking at building a quiz in Rise 360 that will be used as a assessment and hosted on my organisations Cornerstone LMS. The only content in this Rise build will be the quiz containing questions from a bank. There will be no other content present.
However, I've been asked if it's possible to track individual questions so we can delve into what questions learners got right and wrong to identify areas we may need to improve training and learning provision.
I've come across this article: https://www.articulatesupport.com/article/Rise-Quiz-Data-Sent-to-an-LMS that lists the data sent to an LMS by Rise 360 when using a quiz to track course completion, but I still would like some additional clarification on some details.
- Where the article mentions "student_response" and "correct_response", are these question specific? - if a learner completes a quiz consisting of 10 questions, do two pieces of information for each question get sent to the LMS (student and correct response data for Q1, for Q2, for Q3, etc.)?
- Is this level of data tracking available using SCORM 2004 4th Edition? - if yes, aside from selecting SCORM 2004 4th Edition when publishing to SCORM, are there any other options I need to be looking at to get it to work?
- If anyone has any experience with the Cornerstone LMS (UK/EU region if that matters), do you know if it can support reporting on this question by question data and how to access it? Or do you have any links to any material that can explain this?
Many thanks,
Sam

The article you referenced is quite comprehensive.
This is the most important part:
When you publish your Rise 360 course for cmi5, SCORM 2004, or xAPI (Tin Can), it sends full question text to your LMS.

Hi Karl,
Thank you for taking the time to reply.
That might answer (2) of my original post, but does not answer (1) or (3).
Do you have any further insights on those questions? The article feels quite top level to me and doesn't dive far enough into the weeds to help my understanding, hence my post.
Kind regards,
Sam
Hi SamBarnard-98a4!
Glad to see Karl has been helping you. Happy to jump in here!
To your first question, Rise 360 does send question-level data. However, how that data gets interpreted and displayed is fully reliant on the LMS itself. In this case, Cornerstone.
When a Rise 360 course is published to LMS using SCORM 1.2/2004, or xAPI, Rise sends question-level interaction data for each quiz question. For a 10-question quiz, Rise sends 10 separate interaction records, one per question. Each interaction includes fields such as:
- student_response > what the learner answered for that specific question.
- correct_response > the correct answer for that specific question.
- result > correct or incorrect.
- interaction_id > the question identifier.
- interaction_type > multiple choice, fill-in-the-blank, etc.
For each question, Rise is sending the learner’s answer and the correct answer. Again, how this data gets presented within the LMS environment is dependent on the capabilities of that specific LMS. Your LMS administrator may be able to configure this data in a way that meets your needs for this level of reporting.
Unfortunately, I can't speak to your third question. However, we do have a lot of Cornerstone LMS users here in the community. I'm hopeful they will be able to share additional insight with you!
