RISE course won't load in LMS

We have recently (last 6 weeks or so) started having a problem where the RISE portions of courses in our LMS won't load for some users. They can click on it but then they just get a white screen. We have had reports of this on both Mac and PC, although sometimes if they connect to a different network or use a colleague's device it will work. All the other components of the courses built directly in the LMS work and our provider says they have not made any updates that would affect this. The RISE files were exported in Tin Can, so we are wondering if certain devices have settings or antiviral/firewall software that blocks it for some reason. We haven't been able to replicate the results internally, so we're not quite sure where to start with troubleshooting. Anyone else have this problem or a possible solution to suggest?

Hi there. We use two different LMS systems at work. Both of those systems play very nice with Rise courses as either by uploading the URL directly into your LMS or as a SCORM 1.2 package. They have had mixed results with TinCan uploads.

You may want to ask your provider if they support SCORM 1.2 and/or URL workflow and give it a shot.

i personally am moving toward the direct URL LMS route as it allows our courses to always be up-to-date.

    Hope that helps a little!

  • Hi, Adriane. We just started receiving reports of this same issue with a Rise course we launched company-wide. Some users report seeing only a white screen upon launch and the content never loads. The course is published as SCORM 1.2 within our LMS. Most of the users having issues are working remotely over VPN. I tried to duplicate the issue myself by trying remotely over VPN and was unsuccessful--the course launched and loaded perfectly for me. I realize your post was from three years ago, but do you happen to recall what the resolution was for you?

  • Having this issue now and no idea why it's happening. Any guidance would be appreciated.

      Hi DavidMangoro-d6!

Sorry to hear you're also experiencing this snag, when uploading Rise 360 material to your LMS!

To start, I suggest testing the published output in an LMS test environment like SCORM Cloud. This can help pinpoint if the issue lies with the LMS being used, or the course itself. If the course loads as expected in SCORM Cloud, please connect with your LMS admin to see if something could be getting in the way on their platform.

However, if the course also fails to load in SCORM Cloud, please reach out to our team through a support case.

They'd be happy to dive into this further with you!
