Seeking Suggestions

I'm working on a Discrimination and Harassment course for university employees. I'm required to use specific legal language (e.g., definitions of certain terms); however, this makes the script/storyboard read at grade level 14. I'd like it to read at grade level 6-8. Does anyone have ideas for how I can make the content more digestible, while keeping the legally required terminology? For instance, I was thinking that I could define a term on a slide, but if you hover over that term, it would provide a simplified definition and/or example. The course is in Storyline 360. TIA

  • Perhaps be honest about the legalese. For example, "Wow. Legal definition are complex!" Follow that with "Here's a simpler description" and/or "Let's look at how this works in real-life examples."

I think examples/scenarios will be where the real learning happens.

BTW, keep in mind that users can't access content in the Hover state if they're using a mobile device or navigating with a keyboard. That's why Accessibility standards prohibit putting required/useful content only in the Hover state.
