Slider - One time use only???

Hello everyone
I included a slider in my project today which, when dragged, turns a bunch of layers on (to the right) and off (to the left). The problem is when I release the slider, say once all layers are turned on, I can't grab it again to switch them off or generally play about with them. 

The slider becomes unresponsive. Any thoughts???
