I appreciate the advance notice, which gives us time to adjust our designs if needed. That said, the list of voices being retired is quite extensive and leaves us with a noticeably unbalanced set of options: 7 female voices, 14 male voices, and 1 non-binary voice.
Are there plans to introduce new voices in the near future?
I often use different voices to create distinct characters that learners associate with specific topics or roles. With so few female voices remaining, I’ll need to recycle them very quickly, which limits both variety and representation.
More broadly, are there any plans to move toward gender parity in the available voices? A more balanced offering would make a meaningful difference for inclusive and engaging course design.
