AI Voices

Just my two cents, AI Voices were good because we didn't need to go back to our live voice to get something redone, or if we wanted to update 1 slide or add something to a presentation. Now we are seeing voices being removed so the advantage of the AI voices is reduced. I see 2 posts this morning and it's not even lunch time from people that need to make updates to 1 or 2 slides, change a word, or add something and the voice is gone.

Maybe we need to look at AI again.

  • I'm sharing the update from this thread! We have worked with our ElevenLabs partner to bring back legacy voices.

Hi all! We hear your frustration about the recent removal of several AI-generated voices from Storyline 360. It's clear this change has significantly impacted your projects, and we understand how disruptive this has been, especially without advance notice. We’re genuinely sorry about how this has impacted you.

In response to your feedback, we have worked with our ElevenLabs partner to bring back legacy voices, meaning the legacy voices have returned to Storyline 360. What does that mean for you? You will now see the legacy voices listed again.

We're working with ElevenLabs directly to establish better communication channels so we can provide more advanced notice of any future voice changes and what the impact will be for you as authors.

Arrghhh...I just sent in a ticket for this! I had a male voice and now it defaults me to a female. And I'm in the middle if my project!!

    • Hi Sunny1!

Sorry to hear that you've run into this setback!

I see that you've connected with my teammate, Cleober through your support case. As he shared, with the release of Storyline 360 version 3.104.35448.0, several AI-generated voices will no longer be available for AI-Assisted Text-to-Speech.

We apologize for any trouble this may have caused you. This change comes as ElevenLabs, our AI-Voice Generation subprocessor, is phasing out support of it's legacy voices.

We're also tracking feedback on how this change has impacted our users, and I've relayed yours directly to our product team!

I agree, I also needed to make an update to a slide using an AI voice that has just vanished from the library today. No notice... this is not a reliable tool for developers.

Yet another risk to mitigate on top of everything else.

Agreed. Same thing just happened to me about an hour ago. As IDs/devs, consistency is huge. And having to completely redo the audio on every slide in a module because the voice you were using was removed for some reason is a huge hassle.

This was also posted 5 days ago. Not sure when update 104 happened, but apparently that's when the change was made.

The update occurred this morning. Posting only on this site was not effective communication for such a big change.

Thanks for sharing that post Jonathan, it appears the voice I used is on that list.

Unfortunately a couple voices I've used in some modules were as well. I guess ElevenLabs made an announcement on their website, but how are SL users supposed to just know that? Definitely a bummer.

  • Hi Everyone!

Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts on this recent change!

We completely understand how frustrating it is to lose access to AI-voices you've come to rely on in your Storyline projects. As I shared with Sunny1, after the release of Storyline 360 version 3.104.35448.0, several AI-generated voices will no longer be available for AI-Assisted Text-to-Speech. This change comes as ElevenLabs, our AI-Voice Generation subprocessor, is phasing out support of it's legacy voices.

While this isn’t something we can directly control or reverse, we are actively tracking feedback from users like you. Your input helps us better represent your needs when we work with our partners, and it guides us as we look for ways to improve the Text-to-Speech experience in Storyline moving forward. I've shared all of your feedback with our product team.

I'm sorry if this has caused you trouble or slowed down your authoring experience!
