Sound Issues Upon Publishing

Hello, 

I have run into an issue with voiceovers not playing after a course has been published to our LMS. It works fine in the file and in review, but upon publishing it, we have gotten feedback that some slides have no sound. Weirder still is that it is inconsistent on which slides play with sound and which don't. Some users have no problems, while others have issues with multiple slides. (And because there is no sound playing, it also doesn't show CC on the slide.)

I have tried:

  • Having the sound linked to a trigger (play when slide begins)
  • Delaying the sound by two seconds on each slide to give it a chance to load correctly
  • Updating and republishing the course

I am unclear as to whether this is an issue with Storyline, people's internet connections, or if it is our LMS causing problems, but any suggestions are appreciated!

    Thanks for sharing everything you've already tried. Since the audio works in Storyline and Review 360 but becomes inconsistent after uploading to your LMS, it would be helpful to learn more about your setup.

    • Are you using the latest version of Storyline 360 (Update 121) and saving locally to your hard drive?
    • Which LMS provider and reporting standard (SCORM 1.2, SCORM 2004, xAPI, etc.) are you using?
    • Does the issue occur in all browsers/devices or only certain ones?

     

    As a troubleshooting step, I recommend testing your course in SCORM Cloud to see if you experience the same behavior there. If the audio plays consistently there, it would suggest the issue is LMS-specific.

    If after testing you're still experiencing this, we'd be happy to take a closer look at your .story file privately in a support case.
