Storyline 360: Location of closed caption in the player
Is there a way to determine where on the screen the closed caption is displayed? All I have been able to do is have it play on top of the video. I would like it to show up below the video. We do software training and it doesn't always work to have the closed caption within the screen since it could end up covering something important.
Hi everyone,
I have some great news to share. We just released another update for Storyline 360. In Update 86, we’ve included important fixes and new features.
One of the new features we’ve included:
- Position captions at the top or bottom of the slide to ensure closed caption visibility and prevent the obstruction of critical course content.
Launch the Articulate 360 desktop app on your computer to take advantage of this update, and click the Update button next to Storyline 360. You’ll find our step-by-step instructions here.
Please let me know if you have any questions.

I too am joining the conversation. The placement of the caption box is NOT inclusive for those who need it. It's way at the bottom of the slide and they can miss so many things. We desperately need the ability to move that caption box to the location that is optimal for the learner.

I also have a need for this feature. We do software simulation training and many times we find that the caption box covers areas of the screen that the learner needs to be able to see. Captivate allows for the caption box to be placed in many areas on the screen, and can be customized slide-by-slide.

Also have a need for this feature. Within training for "onboarding" or "process how-to" training, being able to move the CC box is more than a "nice to have". Otherwise, you have to redesign a template or each course to account for the space that the Caption box occupies. It is frustrating - especially with multiple courses. For the learner who uses the CC (hint: I am one of those people, even as an experienced ID due to long-term hearing loss.) - the ability to move that caption is sorely lacking.

It would be great to have the same features as modern development software. Sure hope Articulate makes the changes before the functionality becomes obsolete.

Just jumping in to say that adding this feature would be great ;)

Yep, all of the above, although I'm not hopeful. Other feature requests I have seen have been waiting for over 10 years.

The new version of Captivate has drastic improvements to functionality that caused us to switch to Articulate. Closed Captioning has all the features we have been asking Articulate to improve. Consider evaluating Captivate, our organization is currently doing that.

It has been over 4 years, since this suggestion was brought up.
This is a very critical feature to allow our disability and international users to have access to it.
They cannot see the content.
Is there any update on the placement of the caption? ThanksHi Magnifi Group!
Thanks for checking in on this!
I don't have any updates to share at this time as our development team has been prioritizing other features. I've included you in the feature report and will update this discussion if it makes it onto our Feature Roadmap.
In the meantime, for your reference, here's a deeper look at how we manage feature requests.

I cannot give details, but the new Adobe Captivate solves this CC issue. Take a look at the beta if you can.

Any update on this feature. Would love the ability to shift the cc text to another area of the slide as needed. Thank you so much for looking into this.
Hi Craig,
Thanks for following up on this feature request. I'm happy to share that this is part of our roadmap for Storyline 360!
We'll let you know once it is available.
