Storyline 360 to 3 compatibilty.
I have Storyline 360. I need to share a file with somone who only has access to Storyline 3. Yes, I know it is no longer updated, but that is the only option right now. I have never added any background music to this file. I did set up the modern player. I changed it back to classic, but it still says they cannot open it because of background audio. I checked under Insert, Audio, Background and there is no playlist and it appears that the no background audio is checkmarked by default. Any ideas on why the file still will not open? I have a few files I need to share but I am guessing there are all going to have the same error.

Hello Luciana,
Yes, all files are saved locally. This is happening now with each file that was created in Storyline 3 and then opened in Storyline 360. It doesn't matter what change we make (it could be as small as correcting a typo). When the owner tries to open the file again, we get that error. Today, we got this error when we corrected the position of the text.
I will upload the file for your review.
Thank you,

Hello, I was wondering if there has been any fix or workaround for this issue? We are facing the same problem. We use some Articulate 360 licenses and a few Storyline 3 licenses. We have noted that when we open a module created with Storyline 3 in Storyline 360, do a minor edit, and save it, it will generate this error when we try to open it again with Storyline 3. We have not added any background music at any time.
Hello ErickYaker,
Thanks for reaching out!
- Just to confirm, are you working and saving your files locally?
- What is the error message your team is receiving when trying to open the project file? Feel free to share a screenshot or screen recording with us.
- Is this happening with more than one project file, or just this one?
We'd be happy to take a closer look at your project file that's affected to see if we can experience this behavior on our end. You can share your file in this thread or privately in a support case.
Looking forward to hearing from you!

Yes. I have never added in background audio to any of my files. This is what it is saying on all of the ones I have tried to share. I appreciate you opening a support case.
Hi AmySchuster!
Sorry to hear your colleague is having trouble opening a Storyline 360 file in Storyline 3!
Thanks for sharing the troubleshooting steps you've tried so far. Do you mind clarifying how your teammate accessed the file that was shared? Was it uploaded to a network/cloud drive? If so, can you confirm that your colleague first copied the file to their local hard drive before opening it? Working directly off of a shared drive can sometimes cause unexpected behavior, in Storyline.
If they're working with a locally stored file, but still having issues, do you mind sharing a copy of the problematic .story file so we can have a closer look? Feel free to upload that here in the discussion, or privately through a support case.
Looking forward to hearing from you!

I shared the file through Dropbox. They downloaded it to open it. I tried 2 different files, both with the same result.
Hi AmySchuster!
Thanks for following up and sharing your file!
I was able to replicate the same error you reported, indicating the presence of Background Audio within the project.
However, no Background Audio files can be found when checking the Media Library. Behavior such as this may occur when Background Audio was originally included in a project, then later removed. Although I understand you mentioned never including Background Audio in this file. Interesting!
I would like our support engineers to have a closer look at this issue, so I've opened a support case on your behalf. You're in excellent hands troubleshooting with them, and they should be connecting with you via e-mail, shortly!
We can continue the conversation through your case to keep all information in one spot.
