Storyline 360 Update 104

Earlier today, we released Update 104 of Storyline 360. This update includes a handful of accessibility related fixes and enhancements.

🛠️ Fixed in this release:

  • Checkmarks on correct responses now provide text alternatives, meeting WCAG 1.1.1.
  • Lightboxes now open reliably when navigation controls are enabled.
  • Screen readers will now announce default alt text for text entry fields

Additionally, the Accessibility Checker got an upgrade: scene-level violations now display a thumbnail of the scene making it easier to spot exactly where an issue lives without extra hunting around. The attached gif shows violations for "Scene title defined" and "Scene title distinctive" issues with thumbnails of the affected scenes.

Accessibility is one of those areas where small tweaks can have a big impact for learners, and we're always looking for ways to make it simpler to build courses that every learner can access. What else would help you as you work toward your course accessibility goals?

  • Is anyone else experiencing issues with the ‘Dim base layer’ option since the new release? It isn’t working on my layers, and even when I created a new file and added a template slide with layers set to dim, the effect still doesn’t appear in preview.

      Hello DeborahRollins-

Thanks for reaching out! I want to confirm that it is expected behavior that only the layer currently selected is full-color, and all other layers are dimmed.

Since this seems isolated to your projects, I'm curious to learn more about your setup!

      • In the Slide Layer Properties, do you have the 'Hide objects on the base layer' option checked?
      • You mentioned this isn't working in Preview. If you publish your course, do you experience this same behavior?

I recommend a repair of Storyline 360. Sometimes, a repair can help resolve some erratic behavior across project files.

If you're still experiencing this after a repair, we'd be happy to take a closer look at your project files. You can share your .story file(s) and a screen recording of this behavior in this thread or privately in a support case.

Looking forward to hearing from you!
