Storyline Newbie Looking for tips

Hello,

I have access to Articulate Rise and Storyline, but haven’t used Storyline before. I am trying to build a course for new managers based on our new leadership capabilities. I envision the course to begin with an assessment to determine which capabilities they need the most development in. The course should feel like a learning journey. I’m kind of stuck with how to make the course look and feel how I’d like it to with the interactions and course flow. Does anyone have any ideas? Should I start with a template? Should I start in PowerPoint and then figure out how to add in all of the branching and triggers? Help!

  • Hi Kathryn,

Perhaps I could be of some help to you but it sounds like a project where a conversation might be more useful than trying to type back and forth with a few statements at a time.

You can see more about me at Memorable Learning and contact me through there if you would like me to be of some assistance. I am actually on the lookout for projects that I can make for clients in exchange for using their screenshots, positive feedback (if you can honestly give it), etc. on my portfolio/website.

  • I wouldn't start development in PowerPoint, but that's a matter of preference.

I do recommend mapping out/storyboarding what you want to do in advance. That will help you determine how to divide the Storyline into scenes and to trigger branching.

Since you're new to Storyline, I'll also share these links:

        You're welcome!

BTW, as you develop your course, if you get stuck with a specific programming issue, I suggest you start a new discussion. That increases its visibility, which makes it more likely to get replies from multiple folks with different ways to approach the problem. Having each new question in its own discussion thread also makes it easier for others to find potential solutions when they have a similar problem.
