Storyline not completing in Firefox

Hi, all.

I'm still using Storyline -- I can't get the budget for the annual subscription to 360, so I'm stuck with it. We just launched annual safety training, which I've updated using the same base Storyline files for the last several years. For the first time, we're using Workday instead of Success Factors as the LMS. Everything tested fine, but apparently, nobody tested in Firefox. Completions are not being captured for anybody taking the course using Firefox. Any idea why or how to fix this? Many thanks...

  • Hi ShelHoltz you could be in a spot of bother here. It is possible that there have been "breaking" browser updates from Firefox in between the version of Storyline you are using being released and the current version of Firefox.

You would need to look at the browser console on the problem slide (where completion should be sent) in order to determine what is causing the issue. You usually access the browser console by selecting F12. You'd need to look at any red messages that look related to completion. You should be able to make the error for exiting the course occur every time you select the button.

As the issue is occurring with the publishing content and you are bound by the version of Storyline you have installed, there won't be a great deal you can do, but I may be able to offer some suggestions if I was able to take a look at the content and see the errors. Sometimes a bit of JavaScript magic can resolve the issue.

We recommend using Chrome as the browser at all times when completing learning modules in our LMS (Absorb). Firefox and Safari consistently cause issues with completion.

A further update: Apparently, the exit button on the final page isn't working in Firefox; it works fine in Edge and Chrome.
