Storyline not recording microphone

Anyone else have this issue.

I am trying to narrate a screen recording but for some reason the audio isn't recording.

The mic is in the list and selected, but it is not bringing in any audio.  No levels are even showing on the mic when i set up the recording.

It works fine if i just do an insert audio from mic, just not with the screen recording for some reason.

Any suggestions?

  • Hi Ari,

I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing this issue! It could be that Windows doesn't recognize your microphone. Please try these steps, and let me know if that does the trick!

  • Nope, doesn't do the trick and the screen shots in that tutorial seem to be out of date for windows 10.

the odd thing is it recognizes it for doing just an audio from mic recording but not with the screen recording part.

I have been having this same issue for quite some time. On screen record and mic recording, the audio comes out really faint even when turning the volume on high. As a work around unfortunately, I started using the text-to-speech insert.

        Hi Jason,

Sorry to hear that you ran into this issue.

I'd like to ask a few questions to clarify your experience:

        • Are you using an external microphone or a connected device with a built-in microphone?
        • Does your computer have a built-in microphone that you can use for testing?
        • Is your device getting properly recognized by Storyline 360?

        • Have you tried repairing your Storyline 360 installation to see if this fixes the issue?

If repairing Storyline 360 or switching microphones doesn't fix the issue, please open a case with our support team here to connect with a support engineer who can help check why your microphone isn't working properly.

  • Hi Ari,

Sorry to hear you're running into this issue. Thanks for letting us know additional details about when the audio seems to be cutting out.

I have a couple of workarounds for you to attempt on your end:

    - I'd recommend updating your software to the latest version. You'll find our step-by-step instructions here.

Please let us know if that works. If not, I'd suggest working with our Support Engineers directly within a support case so we can investigate further.

    I hope this helps!

      Hi Ari,

Good call on opening a support case. You're in good hands with my colleague Georvy, so we'll continue this conversation there!
