If you are using a video playback as a gauge, then adjusting the video player playback speed will not speedup the timeline, just the video. Your set time requirement seems to to based on an actual timeline value, so users would not progress faster or slower, unless the gate was changed to media completion.
If you use the playback control on the slide player itself, then that affects everything on the slide, timeline and video playback included. Using this with your gate would indeed cause your users to progress slower or faster, according to the speed they select (assuming you made the control visible).

This is not in relation to a video - We are indeed referring to the playback control in the player menu.
