Storyline X64 build v3.88.32574.0 - Incorrect Drag items not returning to start position
- 1 year ago
Hello Everyone!
I'm happy to share that we have released a new update for Storyline 360 (Build 3.89.32618.0).
In this update, we have implemented a fix for:
- If dropped outside a target, dragged items didn't return to their starting point when set to do so.
As a first step, I recommend updating Storyline 360 to the latest version. Here's how:
If you have any questions, please let us know in this thread or privately in a support case.
Have a great day!
Hi Achim,
There's a chance that the behavior you're describing might be due to the triggers you have on your slide. I tested this using a simple drag-and-drop interaction set to two attempts and the "Drop Incorrect" state reverted to normal on my second attempt. Here's a test link you can check out to confirm if we are seeing the same behavior.
Would you be willing to share a copy of your project file here or in private by opening a support case so we can review your triggers? We'll delete it when we're done testing!
Hi Jose,
here is an example: Drag'n'Drop | Review 360 (articulate.com)
If you want to resort your items and drag one item outside of the drop target. The state will be the incorrect. If you replace one item with another it will have the normal state

Hello Achim!
I see what you are noticing! Is it possible for you to share the .story file with us, too? That way, we can see the triggers that you've configured. You can share it in this discussion or privately in a support case.

There are no triggers at all, only the Storyline drag'n'drop feature...

Thank you for sharing the project file, Achim! I ran some tests and found that ticking the option to "Delay item drop states until interaction is submitted" made the difference.
Your Storyline project has this option unticked, so you see the drag item change to the "Drop Incorrect" state whenever it is dropped outside the correct target. When it snaps back to the starting position, the drag item is expected to retain its state and not go back to Normal.
If you tick the option above, the drop states will only be shown when the learner submits the interaction. If they submit the interaction after dropping an item outside the correct target and snapping back to the start point, the Incorrect feedback will appear, and the drag item will show the "Drop Incorrect" state.
Please don't hesitate to reach out if you have additional questions.
