Theme color contrast issue in RISE Quiz section - ideas?

Hi all!

I am looking for some workaround ideas for a singular color contrast issue within the Quiz portion of my current RISE course.

The course color I have chosen is a light yellow and I have the contrast set to auto for maximum contrast for accessibility.

Throughout most of the course, the color looks great!

However, there is one spot where the RISE development for contrast checking for contrast accessibility has not quite reached and is impacting usability. This is most notably the "Start Quiz" button in a Quiz course section, which very difficult to see, nonetheless read, on some screens.

The other issue is on the actual question cards, the progress numbers and fill to show your answer selection are also difficult to see.

These are both shown below.

I have contacted Articulate and they have passed along the note, but had no workaround ideas for me and suggested I check here for ideas.

I really, really do not want to change the course theme color (I have tried and there are so many elements that would have to be re-designed to make it all flow). So, any ideas to remedy the issue for this one section?

THANK YOU!

  • I think your choice of light yellow is a problem. It is worth checking your own colour vision. it is generally not not recommended to just use colours. Adding icons or letters can help

      Thank you for your reply!

To clarify, the yellow is the theme color. So it is used for visual highlights throughout the course, like the backgrounds, circles around numbers on numbered lists, etc. Anywhere it is used for text in other areas of the course, it is on a black button and readable.

It is just these couple places in the Quiz section only that the theme color is used on the background without a button. The examples screenshot may help clarify as well.

        Hi LMCKelseyLarson!

Glad to see the community has been helping with your Rise 360 design!

I just wanted to pop in and highlight our Accessibility Sub-Group here in E-Learning Heroes. It's full of other Articulate users who also care about making their courses accessible. If you're looking for help on best practices when authoring content thats WCAG compliant, that might be a great place to post this query as well!

Have a great rest of your week!
