Traditional design vs Microlearning (nice to know)
Hello smart people. I wanted to share an experience I had when using the microlearning template - I believe they call it in our industry and IT - "A feature". The microlearning template, when you publish doesn't have an option to set the percentage for completion, and so an explicit 'exit' button must be added either in RISE or via LMS. Of course I wasn't aware of this, until I trawled the forum and found this post - Microlearning not marking 'complete' status in the LMS | Articulate - Community. There's also another feature element where a microlearning design displays the 'black screen with play button' when the design detects video/audio in the timeline. This doesn't happen in the traditional designs. I did enjoy using the microlearning template albeit with some of its idiosyncrasies. However with this recent development relating to non-completion, I will reconsider future use. I am sure there's a technical reason why there's no completion percentage when publishing, however for the uninitiated this feature impacts the ability for staff to properly complete via the LMS through no fault of their own. I wasn't very popular with our elearning IT team, but life goes on. Thank you amazing community for all the help and support you give.
Hello KarlMuller. You are correct, however the quizzes I refer to were created in storyline 360 and uploaded via the interactive block. I have since found the solution to why some users were completing and others not. I inspected the quizzes and there was a setting that allowed for only 2 attempts. I changed this to unlimited and so far its been stable. Thanks for responding.

I've got one module (SCORM zip file) in a course which is a microlearning course format. As long as the users get to the end (bottom) it will send back a completion to the LMS.

This is correct. To get a completion status sent to the LMS, a student simply needs to view all blocks. So we don't add an exit button.

Interesting. There are restrictions in the package such as quizzes which have a score against them - I could check to see if these are created correctly, and there are 2 videos which must be watched. I will do a test and remove these restrictions from the package and remove the exit button to see what I get. Perhaps there's something missing in the quiz score settings. Thank you for the help..

Thats what I thought, however users were not completing and after I read the post about this, I had to place the Exit button on it. Contributing this could be the LMS we are using compared to yours. Either way it was inconsistent and causing admin issues with the LMS team. Thanks

I'm confused. This thread is about a Rise Microlearning, which by definition, consists of a single Rise Lesson.
In your last post you mention "quizzes which have a score against them" and "quiz score settings".
However, these quiz features are not available in a Rise Microlearning, but only in a regular Rise course.

You can still have quiz questions in a microlearning, they don't have to be at the end. But I have the blank screen happening seemingly randomly. It is frustrating.

Hi, yes the final decision to move to traditional from micro was the 'random' blank screen which I experienced the first time recently. I still see a place for the micro format but just as an introduction piece, with words and pictures only. Thanks so much for your response.
