Unable to revisit content after quiz

Hi there

Does anyone know if there is a way (without using the navigation bar) to allow learners to revisit the course content after attempting the quiz?  Scenario is - learner does content and fails quiz and would like to review the content.

I've removed the side navigation as we have sections that not everyone has to do so I've used buttons to move to the right section depending on your role rather than the standard continue button.  We've found staff think they have to do all the sections to get their result to update as our national content works like this.

Two problems :

  1. they can't get to the next section which holds a feedback survey
  2. they can't go back and review content, all they can do is retake the quiz.

Does anyone know of a clever way of inserting a button after the quiz result to be able to review content or move to the next section when they've passed the quiz?

I don't really want to put the menu back in as staff will think they need to do it all and waste time doing this.

Many thanks for any help.

  • Hi Amanda-Gunning

    Thanks for reaching out!

I understand you are using Rise 360 and would like to include button navigation to help your learners get around without using the sidebar navigation.

    • What are your current Quiz Settings
      • Since you shared folks can't advance to the next section, I'm curious if you need to change Require Passing Score To Continue to be toggled Off.

    • You mentioned needing custom navigation depending on who views the course and that you've inserted buttons. In Rise 360, Button blocks or button stacks could be an excellent block type try! This feature allows you to create a more interactive and engaging experience for learners by letting them jump to different lessons or sections within the course. Here's how:
      • Insert a Button Block or Stack: Add a button block or stack in your lesson where you want learners to have navigation options.
      • Choose a Destination: For each button, select a destination. This can be another lesson within the same course or an external web page.
      • Branching Scenarios: Use button blocks to create branching scenarios, where learners make decisions that lead them to different parts of the course.

If you're looking for something different, please let us know! Feel free to share a link to a copy of your course in this thread so we can better understand your setup.

In the meantime, I'm curious to see if others in the community can share what has worked well for them when creating a course with custom navigation and no sidebar!

Looking forward to hearing from you!

Hi there thanks so much for the reply.  I am using the buttons as you describe above in the module.  I don't have Require passing score to continue set. What happens is when the user has done all their sections (e.g. 7 of 9) and gets to the end and fails the test, the result page is displayed.  With no menu or lesson headers active, they have no way to get back to the content to review it. I would like to add a button to enable them to get back to the other lessons at this point on the results page. Alternatively, if the menu could be set to collapsed by us, then they would not see it until they wanted to look for it.  I've had to publish it with the navigation menu on but would be interested to hear if anyone has achieved branching in Rise and enabled users to get back to the menu without the menu showing all the way through the course. Many thanks for any ideas!
