You can now Localize Text to Speech on Rise and Storyline!

We’re thrilled to announce an exciting enhancement for all Localization Pro users! 

When you translate your course, the script will be automatically translated and new audio will be generated and re-inserted in the target language, saving you time and effort.

What’s New

With this update, translation now includes:

  • Automatic translation of the script (the text that powers Text to Speech).
  • Automatic generation and insertion of localized audio in your translated course.
  • Validator updates: Validators can now update the script, and importing their suggestion will automatically update the audio as well.

This functionality is now live in both Rise and Storyline.

Important Note for Storyline Users

This update applies to both AI Text to Speech and Legacy Text to Speech shapes.

You’ll no longer need to manually replace audio after translation, it’s all handled automatically during the translation process!

    What voice is selected for the auto gen'd audio? Is there a place I can specify which voice I'd like to use for each language? Otherwise I just have to go and regen all the audio anyway to use the client's selected voice from the VO library.

      Happy to share some insight on this!

      When localizing Text-to-Speech in Storyline and Rise, the target voice will default to whichever source voice was originally selected. E.g. if it were Mark in English, it translates to Mark in Spanish.

      Currently, it is not possible to set a preferred language prior to translating Text-to-Speech with Localization. Some adjustments are still necessary post-translation if you require a different target voice. I understand this may feel laborious, and I've shared your insights directly with our product team.

      We'll be sure to notify you if we release a future enhancement that helps!

  • Hi StevenBenassi​ & asalayev​ I tried out the localization/translation of text-to-speech elements within my storyline project but I'm not able to publish the translated version to Review360 - the option seems inactive (sorry for german screenshot). Do you have an idea why this functionality is not available now?

    Within Rise360 I'm able to publish the new language for review in Review360 but in Storyline the option is kind of inactive.

    Besides that the automatic translation of text-to-speech elements is a very very important and helpful feature for us as we do a lot of localization (to provide our trainings in over 36 markets) :-)

      So sorry to hear you're having trouble publishing your localized Storyline project!

        Solution was to use the "Publish" functionality and not the grey one "Publish to Review360" above :) No it's working fine. 

  • Hi!
    Has the Option "Validators can now update the script, and importing their suggestion will automatically update the audio as well" been removed?
    I cant't find the place where the Validators can review and update the Script. 

    I'm currently evaluation the free demo of the localization feature, is the issue?

      Happy to help!

      Free trials of Articulate Localization are issued as the 'Pro' plan. During that trial period, you are given full access to all features, such as Localized Text-to-Speech.

      After localizing a course and publishing to Review 360, the validator must first select the target language from the course stack, then expand the editing window from the right-hand side of that Review item.

      After that, the validator can select a specific Rise Lesson, or Storyline Slide to validate those audio elements.

    Thank you for your reply and the screenshots! I was able to find the "Validate audio-elemnts" option in Review for a rise course, but not for a storyline course. could you please post screenshots of a storyline course so that i can try to finde the problem? My AI-Audio is on the timeline.

      Hi ClemensKnzel-aa! The "Validate audio elements" option is available for Rise 360 courses in Review 360. It isn’t available for Storyline 360, so you won’t see it when reviewing Storyline content.

      If your AI audio is on the timeline in Storyline, that’s the right place. You can preview the slide in Storyline or publish the course to Review 360 to confirm the audio plays.

      If you’re still running into trouble, feel free to share a screenshot of your timeline showing the audio track. I’m happy to take a closer look!
