Intuitive Role Playing Exercise with Feedback

Hello, is there an AI tool within Storyline or Rise where you can insert an intuitive back-and-forth role-playing activity that provides real-time feedback to users depending on their responses to help enhance communication skills during customer service calls?

  • Hey KW-ID — right now our AI Assistant tools are more focussed on speeding the course authoring process. They let you do things like generate images, convert blocks into different interactivity types, and summarize or convert information you upload from other resources like PDFs into learning content. But, they don't do the type of learner interactivity that you described. You can learn more about how these features work here in our AI Assistant Training Hub

That said, I can imagine there might be other folks in this community who may have used other embedded tools or strategies to do something similar to what you're describing. I'd be interested to hear if anyone has! The person who is coming to mind who may have an example like this is paulnjuguna-b75this example he shared a while back seems maybe somewhat similar to what you're looking for.

Thank you, Noele, for sharing the example. I was hopeful but to your point, there may be other AI tools that provide the back/forth banter with real-time feedback. If anyone has come across one, please feel free to share the name and whether they can be uploaded to Storyline/Rise. Thank you again for your help!

    Hi KW-ID
I would be very interested in this too.

I tried to recreate something similar myself. But I haven't achieve a natural flow of conversation and “natural” interaction like an AI conversation would.
What I did was to provide several possible answers in speech bubbles from which the learners could choose the correct one. If they chose the wrong bubble, I used AI Video (with Synthesia) to show a possible reaction from the customer. Additionally I gave direct feedback explaining why that answer was not optimal. Of course, you could also set this up as a branching scenario, but that will require more planning and resources.

I think this is a really nice in-between state to a more natural conversation like one that an AI chatbot might have. In some ways, I actually like this solution better than including a totally AI-driven example conversation in training because you are able to be so specific about what you want to highlight in each interaction.

I can definitely see how it's more effort to outline that decision tree with enough responses to make the conversation feel real, but I'm wondering if this isn't one of those places where what you would gain from using AI might have an equal tradeoff. What do you think?

  • Yes. In Articulate Rise, you can use the built-in Practice Zone block. Combining chat functionality with artificial intelligence to create role-playing games that return real-time feedback based on student responses.
