Poor image quality when uploading an image with Rise

Apr 10, 2017

Hello,

I created and saved-for-web a .png image in Photoshop. When I uploaded it with Rise (as a centered image in my blocks-lesson), it converted it with poor quality. Is it possible to avoid those artifacts? Looks not so good when a course is viewed on PC screen.

Thank you!

Hi everyone!

Do you have an image that looks blurry in Rise 360? We've designed a workaround to keep your images looking crystal clear.

If you'd like an image to keep its specific file format and not undergo compression, you can opt-out of image optimization on a case-by-case basis. Add _NOPROCESS_ to the name of your image file. It'll upload and display exactly as you saved it. Keep in mind that the 5GB file size limit still applies, and you could see an increase in your output file size.

Dear Mike,

Here is the original PNG - I removed company sensitive parts but most artefacts are around text and geometrical shapes anyway. Thank you!

test.png is the original image

Untitled-1.png is the screenshot of how it looks at Rise viewed on the PC screen (black are parts I removed)

Hey guys,

Any improvement on image quality when uploading to Rise? Please see the screenshot which compares my jpg in photoshop and in Rise.

We cannot use this quality with clients :((((

If I export GIF the quality is better, but for JPG and PNG is poor.

Irina,

Could you please share an original images (JPEG and PNG) that you're uploading to Rise. I'm not too surprised that the quality is not great with JPEG, considering that there are text elements and JPEG isn't usually a good choice for these types of images. But if you're also trying a PNG we should be doing a much better job.

Thanks,

Mike

Dear Mike,

This was for example one of the PNG images (I blurred the non-public content, but the text had in itself enough artifacts). The thing is that when I save JPG in photoshop - text it works perfectly fine, so there should not be any problems with JPG as well, if image quality is not processed from Articulate side.

Thank you very much!

Hi Irina,

What type of lesson or block are you inserting this image into? I looked at the image you shared a couple months ago and saw what you're describing, (screenshot comparison here) so I'll share this with the team to have them take a look at what may be happening.

Thanks for sharing both these images.

Hello Marianne and welcome to E-Learning Heroes :)

Sorry to hear that you've run into a similar problem, but you are certainly in the correct place for notification of updates.

This thread is tied to the report filed, but I do not have an update to share at this time.

The issue reported seems specific to images added to a rise block and the image is set to full width. Does this sound like what you are experiencing as well?

If you have an example to share, that would be helpful.

I am also having this issue and have tried using PNG and JPEG but both have the same problem. Several of our content reviewers even pointed out that the images looked "a bit blurry". In this example I'm using the image in a RISE block / Accordion list. I have noticed this issue in various places when using RISE. (This does apply to the image even once it's been clicked on and zoomed larger).

Attached is the normal as well as the blurry image so you can see the difference... This definitely affects the quality of the course we are putting together so any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Hi

I'm a new A360 use and am keen to produce a software instructional guide using Rise.  I'm pretty clear on how to do this but am concerned with the image quality  I'm getting in Rise.  I thought I was doing something wrong so am reassured it's not just me.  I have attached my png test image which I captured using Snagit.  The way it appears in Rise I just not acceptable.  Hope you find a solution soon.

Hi Leslie,

thanks for the quick response.

Honestly, it doesn't make any difference. With each block format, the pictures lose their quality. No matter if I use the format image, gallery, tabs or flashcards with pictures.

Also there is no difference uploading a selfmade graphic from PowerPoint or uploading a high-quality picture (jpeg, png) from my customer.

Hope that helps.
