Poor image quality when uploading an image with Rise

Hi everyone!
Do you have an image that looks blurry in Rise 360? We've designed a workaround to keep your images looking crystal clear.
If you'd like an image to keep its specific file format and not undergo compression, you can opt-out of image optimization on a case-by-case basis. Add _NOPROCESS_ to the name of your image file. It'll upload and display exactly as you saved it. Keep in mind that the 5GB file size limit still applies, and you could see an increase in your output file size.

Hi Irina, would it be possible for you to share the original source image. We'll take a look into what is going on with the quality. Sorry for the trouble.
Dear Mike,
Here is the original PNG - I removed company sensitive parts but most artefacts are around text and geometrical shapes anyway. Thank you!
test.png is the original image
Untitled-1.png is the screenshot of how it looks at Rise viewed on the PC screen (black are parts I removed)
Thanks Irina, we're looking into this a bit more now. I'll reach out once I have more info.
Irina, we're able to reproduce the problem and are planning some improvements to our image compression. We'll keep this thread updated.
Dear Mike,
Thank you very much!
I am having the exact same problem. Tried PNG and JPG and alle the possible export settings in Photoshop but every picture turns in to poor quality after importing in Rise. Hope there is a solution soon! Thanks
Hi Linda, and welcome to E-Learning Heroes!
Most images work well in Rise. Can you share an example of one of your images here so that we can see if it's a match for the improvements Mike described? Thanks!
Hey guys,
Any improvement on image quality when uploading to Rise? Please see the screenshot which compares my jpg in photoshop and in Rise.
We cannot use this quality with clients :((((
If I export GIF the quality is better, but for JPG and PNG is poor.
Irina,
Could you please share an original images (JPEG and PNG) that you're uploading to Rise. I'm not too surprised that the quality is not great with JPEG, considering that there are text elements and JPEG isn't usually a good choice for these types of images. But if you're also trying a PNG we should be doing a much better job.
Thanks,
Mike
Dear Mike,
This was for example one of the PNG images (I blurred the non-public content, but the text had in itself enough artifacts). The thing is that when I save JPG in photoshop - text it works perfectly fine, so there should not be any problems with JPG as well, if image quality is not processed from Articulate side.
Thank you very much!
Dear Mike,
Here is another example I made today (Sep 12, 2017) : text looks blurred in uploaded PNG. Please advise how to overcome this rescaling hurdle. Many thanks!
Hi Irina,
What type of lesson or block are you inserting this image into? I looked at the image you shared a couple months ago and saw what you're describing, (screenshot comparison here) so I'll share this with the team to have them take a look at what may be happening.
Thanks for sharing both these images.
Dear Ashley,
I am using Rise blocks lesson and I use Image Centered element. My browser is Chrome Version 60.0.3112.113 .
Thank you very much!
Thanks Irina - that's helpful and matched the test I did. 🙂
I'll keep you posted once I have additional information from our team. Thanks for sharing, and I'm sorry it's causing you any problems!
Dear Ashley,
Thank you very much, looking forward!
Hello! Has there been any movement on this? I am having a similar problem and would also like to be notified when a fix becomes available. Thanks!
Hello Marianne and welcome to E-Learning Heroes :)
Sorry to hear that you've run into a similar problem, but you are certainly in the correct place for notification of updates.
This thread is tied to the report filed, but I do not have an update to share at this time.
The issue reported seems specific to images added to a rise block and the image is set to full width. Does this sound like what you are experiencing as well?
If you have an example to share, that would be helpful.
I am also having this issue and have tried using PNG and JPEG but both have the same problem. Several of our content reviewers even pointed out that the images looked "a bit blurry". In this example I'm using the image in a RISE block / Accordion list. I have noticed this issue in various places when using RISE. (This does apply to the image even once it's been clicked on and zoomed larger).
Attached is the normal as well as the blurry image so you can see the difference... This definitely affects the quality of the course we are putting together so any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
Hi there Danny,
Thanks for letting us know that you're also seeing blurriness in the Rise Accordion block, as well as other places. I'll be sure to add those details to our report. You're in the right place to stay updated on this bug's progress!
Hi
I'm a new A360 use and am keen to produce a software instructional guide using Rise. I'm pretty clear on how to do this but am concerned with the image quality I'm getting in Rise. I thought I was doing something wrong so am reassured it's not just me. I have attached my png test image which I captured using Snagit. The way it appears in Rise I just not acceptable. Hope you find a solution soon.
Thanks for including those screenshots, Paul. I can clearly see the blurriness in the image taken from Rise.
This issue is a priority for us, and you're in the right place to stay updated on this bug's progress.
Hi everybody,
same here. No matter which picture I upload, no matter how good the quality is, the pictures I upload lose immensely in quality. Is there a solution in the meantime? For some customers I have to use their images but this quality is not acceptable.
Hope you find a solution soon.
Hi Laura,
We are still looking into the initial report filed here.
What type of lesson or block are you inserting this image into? Just want to confirm that you are experiencing the same issue.
Hi Leslie,
thanks for the quick response.
Honestly, it doesn't make any difference. With each block format, the pictures lose their quality. No matter if I use the format image, gallery, tabs or flashcards with pictures.
Also there is no difference uploading a selfmade graphic from PowerPoint or uploading a high-quality picture (jpeg, png) from my customer.
Hope that helps.
Hi Laura,
Could you share one of these images with us and a copy of your Rise Share link? The more examples the better as our team looks into this!
