I Built an AI Role Play With No AI (and Claude Was a Very Good Sport About It) 🤖🚫
This is such a smart workaround, and I love that you are upfront with learners that Jordan is not really AI. That honesty probably makes people trust the exercise more, not less.
The coaching panel is the part I would steal. The mood indicator and the case notes filling in as clues appear turn a simple branching chat into real discovery practice. In my maths classroom I see the same pattern all the time: students rush to a fix before they understand the situation in front of them, so anything that rewards asking one more question is gold.
To answer your question, my first question to Jordan would be a deliberately boring one: when exactly did the routing errors start? In my experience the date is where stories like this crack open, and I would want to see whether she gives the September thread away too easily or makes me earn it.

CadoJP Thank you! 😊 I completely agree on the honesty piece. I’d rather learners know the rules up front than think the “AI” is broken.
And I love that you’d start with the boring question, because it’s actually the smartest one! 🕵️♀️ Jordan will tell you the spike started the week of September 15, but she won’t hand over the September thread. You still have to ask what changed. Once you’ve found both clues, she connects them herself: “Hold on. That’s the same week the errors spiked, isn’t it?” That little aha moment was my favorite part to build. 😅
Your math classroom point is spot on too. Rushing to the fix before understanding the problem is basically what Jordan is doing with her training request, so the learner gets to be the one who slows down. Please steal the coaching panel! 🙌
Quick tip if you build your own: take a screenshot of the coaching panel and drop it into your prompt along with your scenario. Showing the AI what you want instead of describing it will get you there so much faster. 📸
