Rise 360 Accessibility - Repeated Text on Flip-cards
Hi,
So we had recently sent a Rise 360 course to a client, and coming back with accessibility issues, they had flagged that the Flip-card component was repeating the text on the backside of the card (It was set up with an image on front, text on back).
Upon investigation, we found that the Select to Flip button was reading the text out as part of the aria-label of the button - in the 'aria-labelledby', it is calling the description as part of the label.
After reading the label for the button, it is then reading out the text on the card. If you just select the button by itself, it reads through the label then the text, which is shown to repeat.
The only built-in option to 'remove' the button is currently just hiding it until hovered, which is still present completely for screen readers.
We wanted to flag this as this is undesirable to the client and users.

Hi EliGeorge! Thanks for sharing what you’re seeing!
The behavior you described is intentional in Rise 360. When the flip button receives keyboard focus, screen readers announce “Select to flip” and include the card’s content in the button’s accessible label. When a learner navigates to the content itself, it’s read again. This helps ensure no one misses key information, even if they don’t activate the flip interaction.
We understand this can feel repetitive, especially when the front of the card is an image and all text lives on the back. At this time, this behavior isn’t configurable. Hiding the button visually also doesn’t remove it from screen readers.
We appreciate you calling this out and have shared your feedback with our product team.
If your experience is different in any way, what are you noticing? Feel free to share a quick screen recording or a few more details, and we’ll take a closer look.
