When you create a new Articulate Quizmaker 360 quiz, the slide size defaults to 720 pixels wide by 540 pixels high, but you can change it to any size you'd like.

Changing Your Quiz Size

It's best to change your quiz size before adding slides. Otherwise, you may need to resize or rearrange objects in your quiz to accommodate its new size.

  1. Go to the Design tab on the ribbon and click Quiz Size.
  2. When the Change Quiz Size window appears, choose an option from the Quiz Size selector. If you choose Custom, enter the width and height in pixels. Mark the Lock aspect ratio box if you want to maintain the current proportions for objects that have locked aspect ratios.
  3. If you increase the quiz size, choose one of these sizing options:
    • Scale to Fit: This scales existing slide content to fit proportionately within the new size. Objects that have locked aspect ratios will maintain their ratios. Objects that don't have locked aspect ratios may change shape, depending on the quiz size you choose. (Learn more about locking aspect ratios.)
    • Fill Background: This keeps the current slide background and applies it to the new size, but it doesn't resize your slide content. If you choose this option, use the corresponding Quiz Position drop-down to choose where existing content should appear on your slides.
  4. If you decrease the quiz size, choose one of these sizing options:
    • Scale to Fit: This scales existing slide content to fit proportionately within the new size. Objects that have locked aspect ratios will maintain their ratios. Objects that don't have locked aspect ratios may change shape, depending on the quiz size you choose. (Learn more about locking aspect ratios.)
    • Crop: This crops your content to fit within the new size. If you choose this option, the Next button will become active. Click Next to define the crop area for each slide in your project. Drag the green box to indicate the portion of each slide you want to keep.
  5. Click OK to accept the new quiz size.

How Player Features Affect Published Size

The overall size of your published output will be slightly larger than your slide dimensions. That's because the player (the interface around the perimeter of your slides) adds some width and height.

For a standalone quiz, the player adds 20 pixels to the width and up to 118 pixels to the height, depending on the player features you choose.

For a quiz that’s part of a Presenter course, the player adds up to 260 pixels to the width and up to 118 pixels to the height, depending on the player features you choose.

When Your Quiz Is Part of an Articulate Presenter Course…

When your quiz is part of a Presenter course, we recommend using the same slide size in Quizmaker and PowerPoint. If they're different, the quiz will be centered on the PowerPoint slide and, if necessary, scaled down to fit within the slide.

If a quiz has different dimensions than PowerPoint, the slide background color from the Presenter player will show around the quiz. To change this color, do the following:

  1. Open your presentation in PowerPoint.
  2. Go to the Articulate tab on the ribbon and click Player.
  3. Click Colors & Effects on the ribbon.
  4. Click Show advanced color editing.
  5. From the Edit item drop-down, choose Base >> Slide Background.
  6. Use the color selectors to choose your background colors.
  7. Click OK.

Tip: The player colors in Presenter take precedence over the player colors in Quizmaker. Be sure to set your player colors in Presenter.
