In this tutorial, we'll walk through syncing animations after you've already recorded narration or imported audio in Articulate Presenter.

Tip: This same process also works when setting animation timings without any audio at all.

Adding Animations

Before you can sync animations with narration, you'll need to add PowerPoint animations to objects and/or text in your presentation. If you're not familiar with PowerPoint animations, see the following Microsoft tutorials for help:

Although Presenter will respect animation timings you set in PowerPoint, it's easier to set your animations to start On Click and sync them with Presenter.

However, it’s okay to set animations to start With Previous or After Previous when you need to sync multiple items together.

Presenter supports most, but not all, PowerPoint entrance, emphasis, exit, and motion path animations. Click here for a complete list.

Syncing Animations

Here's how to sync animations:

  1. In PowerPoint, select the slide where you want to sync animations.
  2. Go to the Articulate tab on the PowerPoint ribbon, and click Sync Animations.
  3. Click Start Sync.
  4. As the slide plays, click Next Animation each time you want to trigger an animation. Presenter shows you how many animations are remaining.
  5. When you're finished syncing, click Stop Sync, or wait for the narration to complete.
  6. Use the Play/Pause and Stop buttons to preview the slide.
    • If you need to start over, click Start Sync again.
    • If you just need to fine-tune the animation timings and would prefer not to start all over, see this tutorial to learn how to use the Audio Editor to tweak timings.
  7. When you're done, click Save & Close to return to PowerPoint, or use the slide selector to sync a different slide.

Tip: If you'd like to use PowerPoint's slide notes as a transcript while you're syncing animations, mark Show notes pane on narration window in Presenter Options.
