As you've seen, after recording a video screencast you can insert it into your course as a video on a single slide. Or you can insert the video as a series of interactive slides that simulate the software.
In this tutorial, you'll learn how to create interactive simulations. Watch this video first, then follow the steps below to practice.
Once you've recorded a video, you can reinsert it at any time as an interactive simulation. So let's reinsert the PowerPoint video you recorded previously, but insert it as interactive step-by-step slides instead of a video on a single slide.
- On the Insert tab, click the drop-down arrow on the Record Screen button. This will display all recorded videos for the current project.
- Select the PowerPoint video you recorded earlier in the recording screencast video tutorial.
- Then select the Step-by-step slides option. You can see that you have three options. For this demo, select Try mode steps.
- Click Insert. This will insert a series of interactive slides with hotspots. The hotspots are the mouse clicks that were recorded during your screen recording.
- Review the slides. Take a look at the feedback layers in the Slide Layers panel. Notice the feedback layers? Storyline generated captions with text instructions. Notice the hotspots on the slides? Look at the Triggers panel and review how the hotspots are linked to the next slide.
- Preview the scene and test the interactive simulation. What happens when you click the wrong area?
Once the content is on the slide, you can edit it like any other slide, adding characters, shapes, text, and interactive buttons. It's that easy.
