Articulate add-in is unable to communicate with the articulate.presenter.exe process

Apr 14, 2017

I have some issues using any function in the Articulate tab in PowerPoint.
E.g. when I tried to insert a character, a very quick screen appeared and dissapeared saying something like "unpack complete" but nothing happened.

When I try it now, I get the following error message:
"Articulate add-in is unable to communicate with the articulate.presenter.exe proces"

After this, I can't close the PowerPoint anymore either (Only via Task Manager).

What could be going wrong?

Hi Inge,

Sorry this is slowing you down--let's get you back up and running again!

Can you tell me more about your set-up?

  • What version of Presenter are you using?
  • What version of Windows and PowerPoint are you using?
  • Is your file stored on your C: drive?
  • Is this happening in any Presenter file, or just this one in particular?

Hi folks.  I'm running into this same problem.  I did an update on Rise yesterday, now studio can't find the Presenter add-in.  The add-in is not disabled and I have tried the troubleshooting steps in Alyssa's post 3 times.  I am using PowerPoint 13, Articulate Presenter 360, on a system 7 pc.  My files are all local and not on any external drive.

The error reads:  Failed to detect Articulate Presenter process.

Please help as I need to get this course done.  Thanks for any and all help!

Hi Will,

I took a look at one of the cases here, and it looks like a repair of Studio and the Microsoft .Net Framework resolved it. If you need the steps to repair .Net you can find them here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=30135

Let me know what version of Studio you're using, and I'll share those repair steps!

Hi Ashley-  Can you provide a new link?  When I click yours (from a year ago), I receive an "Error 404".  I will also submit a case but would like to resolve this ASAP.

I experience the same issue as everyone above.  Every time I open and/or close I get the error:  "The Articulate add-in is unable to communicate with the articulate presenter.exe.process.  Click OK to continue.

I uninstalled all of Articulate 360, rebooted, reinstalled, rebooted, installed, etc.  As soon as I install Studio, I get this message whenever I open PPT.  Currently I have it uninstalled.  PLEASE HELP!

Hi Elena,

I'm glad you reached out to our Support team and saw Vevette sent you a note earlier. Did you see her response?

It looks like Microsoft has removed the .NET file I previously linked to for download. Have you already tried the solutions in this article on How to Repair Studio 360?

Hello,

Whenever I open PowerPoint and then close the window (even if I didn't do anything in PowerPoint), I get that error message "The Articulate add-in is unable to communicate with the articulate.presenter.exe process. Click ok to continue."  As of now, it doesn't appear to be affecting anything but I'd like to fix that so it doesn't become a problem.
