Auto-generated CC Vanish when pausing

Apr 14, 2022

Hi,

(have searched forums but can't find anything specific to this)

Is it possible for the closed captions generated by Storyline360 to NOT vanish when the slide is paused?

Kind of annoying when you have them on, you pause the slide, and they vanish from the screen.

If there's no easy solution/box that needs to be checked/unchecked, then I'd suggest this becomes a feature.

Kind regards,

Sam

Hi, Samuel.

Thank you for reaching out!

Are you using a custom pause button?

We have a bug reported where Closed Captions disappear when the timeline is paused using a trigger. However, they don't disappear when using the player's pause button.

I've connected this discussion to the bug report, and I'll be sure to come back to update you when I have some news.

Hi Maria,

Thank you for getting back to me on this. We are using a custom pause button. If that's the cause then at least we can possibly work around it, or at the very least be aware of the limitation. Will pass on to the rest of my team.

If possible, it would be nice to have some additional functionality surrounding CC and custom pause/play buttons as sometimes you want something more bespoke than what the player provides.

Thanks again!

Sam

Hello Samuel,

I have some great news to share! We just released another update for Storyline 360. In Update 77, we've included important fixes and new features.

One of the enhancements we've included:

  • Closed Captions disappear when timeline is paused using a trigger

Launch the Articulate 360 desktop app on your computer to take advantage of this update, and click the Update button next to Storyline 360. You'll find our step-by-step instructions here.

Please let me know if you need additional help!
