Hi Pa,

Thank you for reaching out!

That is odd that the shapes are either cut off or disappearing. Does this also happen in a new file? I tried recreating the issue on my side using the same build of Storyline; however, I am not able to recreate the issue.

I have the same problem on my new project. On my "pick one" slides I have 2 caption bubbles as options and it's cut off on the right side until I click on it and then the whole thing shows.  I have no idea why or how to fix it.  It doesn't show that way on my actual slide, just in the preview.  So I guess I'll have to see what it looks like when I publish it.  Did you ever figure out how to fix yours?

Hi Erin,

I'm sorry you're seeing this same issue as well! A few questions to dig deeper:

  • Are you only seeing this when you preview your file, and not when you publish?
  • Do you have the Scale to fill browser window option selected in the Player Settings?

If you're able to share it, we'd be happy to take a look at your .story file and help you troubleshoot why this is happening. Feel free to connect with a support engineer with the link below.

I am having a similar issue, but I'm not sure it's the same solution as mentioned. It's certainly not what Leslie pointed out.

I have created this screen so that when the learner clicks on each caption bubble, they see an explanation of why we ask that question. The revealed layers work fine, but the base layer cuts off all the captions.

I'm using the Modern player, so it's not about scaling. And I have tried with Modern Text turned on and off, and that didn't do anything.

Any ideas?

Hi Brian,

Thank you for sharing that screenshot. I'm happy to dig in with a few quick questions:

  • Which version of Storyline 360 are you using? Click the Help tab, then About Storyline.
  • Are your caption bubbles all flipped horizontally?

I ask because we've documented a bug in Storyline 360 Update 36, where caption bubbles appear cut off on the edge when flipped horizontally.

However, I'm not seeing this happen in Update 45. Here's a short recording of my test.

Let me know if that matches your experience!

Katie,

I am using Update 45, so that's not an issue. I created this the middle of
last week, so not sure when that update happened...seems fairly recent?

I could have flipped the original caption bubble (before I duplicated it),
but don't remember. Would it help if I flipped them back? Or recreated them
all?

Thanks for your help!

Brian

Hi,

I have the same issue. In edit mode the speech bubbles look fine but when I preview them it cuts off the end.

I made a new slide and if I flip the bubble horizontally the bubble is cut off but if I don't flip it then it seems to work fine (this has been tested on 3 slides where I previously had this issue).

I have version 3.45.23393.0 installed.

Hi Brian! Hi Candice!

I truly appreciate those extra details!

After more testing, this behavior is indeed a match to the open issue above. Brian's right; one workaround is to rotate the caption bubble back to its initial position.

The second there's more to share, we'll let you know. Thank you for bearing with us.

Hi, everyone.

I just wanted to share that we are no longer seeing the bug reported where the caption bubble gets cut off on the edge when flipped horizontally using the latest build of Storyline (3.61.27106.0).

If you're using the latest version and you're still experiencing this issue, please reach out to our support team through a case
