Custom nav buttons not working and slides out of order

Hello,

I am experiencing two issues (I added a screen record link here):
1) I am working on a course and it seems that my custom navigation buttons are not working in some areas.
To fix this I have tried: a)changing the trigger from 'next slide' to the exact slide target b)copying buttons from working modules to the problem slide c)switching to resume initial or resume saved state d)recreating the buttons altogether.

2) I have course menu slides in the beginning of each module. They are on the top while I am designing, but when I go to preview the slide/scene or publish in review 360, sometimes the slides will shift to the bottom of the module and a few other slides have gone out of order during review or preview as well (which also creates more complication of the nav buttons)

Thank you for your time and help.

  • Hi Tonika,

You must have rearranged slides in the story view at some point. You can easily restore their correct order in the Player settings. Simply navigate to the Menu tab, where you'll find the reset menu option at the bottom right. Clicking this will realign the slides to match the order in the story view.

Thank you, I will try this. Is this related also to the custom nav buttons?

  • No, it is not. It will only affect the order of slides in the Menu. Additionally, I recommend reviewing the triggers associated with your custom navigation buttons again. Just in case you have missed something.

I think this fixed it and even why the next buttons were skipping. I think they were skipping to what was supposed to be next. Thank you so much!!

  • it might be related to resetting the menu as your menu is bovicously out of order.

I think you could do with more unique names as it isn't obvious for the user which slide to click from the menu.

Also be aware if you are now hardcoding next to jump to specific slides and the user can jump using the menu and previous is historic you may get stuck in a loop, may need to code the previous to specific slides as well.

Thank you Phil! I appreciate your time and insights. I just saw your response. The names were for the draft mode as I typically don't keep the side navigation on for certain types of courses. They are all renamed now and work via the 'reset from story' button. For this particular course, the user won't see that menu in the end, but it was helpful for me to see if the reset worked.
