Storyline will alert you if you make changes in a file and then attempt to close it without saving. That's true except when the changes I have made are in Publish > LMS/LRS > Report and Tracking button > Tracking tab > Uncheck When the learner has viewed. I expected Storyline to warn me when I tried to close the file without saving, but it didn't and when I opened the file again, the checkbox was checked rather than unchecked.
Changing a setting in Storyline doesn't engage the save warning when closing the program. That happens when making a change to the course. For example, changing a font or adding a photo.
For the publishing setting you listed above, it is the expected behavior of the software for the box to remain checked after reopening the software.
I would have expected storyline to track this and save, in other cases this has been highlighted as a bug. It causes additional work if it doesn't save.
