How come when I "preview" a scene the audio plays but when I "publish" it, it does not?

Aug 10, 2023

I was playing with a work-around to avoid the big "play" button that shows up when I have audio on my slide. (Basically I want the audio/slide to auto-play when the user clicks on the lesson on the LMS so they don't have a big black screen with a "play" button). I found the solution on another discussion that says "copy and paste" the same slide right before the one with audio (delete the audio from the first slide) and input a trigger that states "When the timeline starts on this slide, jump to next slide".

I've done all that and I even previewed the scene and the whole thing works, no big black button and the audio auto plays.. BUT when I publish it, the audio doesn't autoplay! Even weirder is when I insert it into my LMS, the "play" button screen doesn't show (which is great) but my audio doesn't autoplay.... however, when I click "restart" on the slide the audio then works!

Can anyone help me figure out why this is happening?? I just want the audio to autoplay the first time! Attached is the sample.

Hello Anne,

Thanks for reaching out!

Most modern browsers prevent audio and video files from automatically playing until the viewer has interacted with the slide. You can read more about this policy by checking out this official Google blog.

One workaround that you can do is to add interaction at the very beginning of your course to ensure that your media files will play along with it. Here's an edited version of your course to demonstrate this workaround.

Let me know if you have any questions!
