Need help adding Retry to a Freeform Question feedback

Jun 29, 2022

Using SL360, I created a Drag-and-Drop question, converting it to Freeform, and need to offer at least 2 attempts. Problem is the Try Again button trigger hides the feedback layer but  the timeline on the base slide doesn't reset for the learner. Can I add some type of Retry button on a Freeform question that resets the activity to be done again?

Hi, Susan.

Thank you for reaching out!

By default, Storyline's drag-and-drop interaction does not return its objects to their initial location. You can approach this with one of the suggestions below:

  1. Using a motion path to return items to their original places. Here's a Peek 360 recording
  2. Setting the slides to Reset to Initial State when revisiting, you can use a variable to count the number of attempts. Here's a discussion with some tips on how to do this, and another one with a sample project.

Let me know if you have additional questions!

Thank you very much for this great information. I didn't know motion paths could be used to reset a timeline as you described. The video was extremely helpful. I would not have figured this out on my own. What a lifesaver - again, thank you!
