Need to set a SCORE on my LMS without using a Quiz

Hi all. On the last slide of my course I am setting "Complete course as  Completed/Passed" when the timeline starts.  This works great and shows as "Complete" and "Passed" when running it in SCORM Cloud.  My problem is that I believe the LMS I am dealing with also wants to see a "Score".  My course does not have an official Quiz in it.  How do I show a Score percentage without a Quiz.  I have found posts here where they say make a Freeform page at the end of a course and then redesign the results screen to look like you last slide and so on but when I try this I still get the darn "Submit" button for the fake quiz.  Is there a way to just set a Built-in Variable to 100% or something?  This seems like it should be MUCH easier to do.  Please share any advice you may have.

  • Hey Russ

You can change your submit trigger to something like this

And then edit the properties to not show a "submit" button

Thanks Ron.  I have it in place and I get my Passing Score and  Passing Points on my "fake" results page but SCORM Cloud still is not showing a Score.  Thoughts?

      Hello Russ,

You'll want to make sure that your "fake" quiz is graded, and that you have a submit results trigger setup for the course to send a score to your LMS. You can check out this article to learn more about completion and success statuses:

If you already have a graded question slide and a Result Slide that submits the score to an LMS, would you be willing to share a copy of your project file here or in private by opening a support case so we can take a closer look at how you setup your course? We'll delete it when we're done testing!

    Thanks Joe and Ron,

Glad to report we got it working.  We added a Freeform Question slide and added a hotspot over an image representing our button that takes the user to the last slide. We then made it look like our existing slide ( and turned off the Submit button like you suggested Ron ).  For the Results slide we basically did the same thing by using a Blank results slide and then making it look like our existing last slide. It's a bit of a work around but it works.

It sure seems like it would be possible for SL to add the ability to just set a variable on the last slide of a course to get the same results and not have to do the "fake" thing?

From everything I have read it sure seems like the  "Completeed/Passed" trigger should have worked for us but apparently the LMS we are working on needs a specific "Score" and not just "Complete" and "Passed".

  • I agree that adding a variable or trigger that passes a user-defined score to an lms would be most helpful.
