Prompt user to upload a file

Hi All,

I've been searching but found nothing on the topic, so apologies if this has been asked before.

At the end of a assessment task, I would like it to be possible for the user to click on a button with a trigger to create a file dialog box so they can upload a photo of themselves to create an ID card. Ideally, it would rename the file to pre-populated fields captured earlier when uploaded but not a necessity as this could be done back of house. I already have a "Send Email" trigger in place in the meantime, but would love this option if it is possible in Storyline.. Any ideas?

I'm thinking you might need to embed a web object from a webpage to accomplish this, or at least have a backend server page that you can upload the image to.

Do you need to be able to use the image right away in your course, or do you just want to save a copy of it for use later?

  • I have done this using the url to a LMS upload page, but placing it within the Storyline project as a web object within a scrolling window.  Users still have to sign into the lms from within the Storyline window/slide and then the webpage for LMS upload page appears for them to upload documents.  Still nice, prevents the users from having to leave and go to another location to upload.

  • Hi Angus,

Storyline doesn't have a functionality to allow the user to upload a file - so using a web object is likely your best option, as that may be able to store the attachment as well.
