Text alignment bug in buttons and input text boxes ignoring font styles

One of the most annoying bugs I frequently experience with Storyline, which has been carried over to SL 64bit! Is the text align in buttons, shifting to the top of a button when published, and the text in input boxes, ignoring the font styles you have set. We can sometimes mean, multiple re-publishes to Review360 until the content looks like it does in the authoring tool. This is so frustrating. It would be great to see the back of this bug. Imagine waiting 20mins for a huge course to publish an upload to R360 to find this bug, and just have to start the publish process again, and cross your fingers.

That text is center/middle aligned in Storyline.

Input box in Storyline:

Here's that same input box after publishing to review 360:

I just want to finish work. I'll keep publishing, and keep crossing my digits, but it's hit and miss whether it will be formatted correctly!

  • Hi Everyone!

I'm happy to share that we just released a new update for Storyline 360!

In version 3.107.35958.0 we included essential fixes and new features. One of the bugs we’ve fixed is:

    • Shapes shifted when previewed or published

Launch the Articulate 360 desktop app on your computer to take advantage of this update, and click the Update button next to Storyline 360. You’ll find our step-by-step instructions here.

Please let us know if you have any questions!

  • FYI: These two issues appear to be related. They always appear together.

  • Definitely seen this, I have also seen a related one where the shape change slightly and gets taller and has same text issue. (normally rectangle with rounded corners).

  • Thanks so much for sharing what you're experiencing, Sam and Phil! Sorry to hear you've both run into this snag before.

I recreated the Text Entry and Button in a brand new .story file in Storyline 64-bit, and currently, I'm unable to replicate it. Here's a quick look at my sample published to Review 360.

I'd love to take a closer look at your .story file, Sam! I'm curious to see your setup and see if I can replicate this with your file on my end. You can upload the project to this thread or privately in a support case.

Looking forward to hearing from you! 🎉

Thanks for the response. It is a very random occurrence, and so it is
probably difficult to setup a test, but I will see what I can do.

I'm and not using SL64 for production whilst it is in BETA. Please use SL32
for testing this issue as I'm unaware of the issue remains in SL64.

      Thanks,
      Sam

    This is happening again.
Could we please please please have a fix? It's been going on intermittently for years now. Rolling back to a previous version is not a good solution as the current version has essential bug fixes for my current project.

        Hi BarryHollembeak,

Thanks for calling this out, and I’m really sorry to hear you’re still seeing this after updating.

The recent fix addressed specific cases where shapes could shift when previewed or published, but based on your experience, it sounds like there are still scenarios where text alignment isn’t behaving as expected. That tells us there’s more for us to dig into here.

The most helpful next step would be to look at a Storyline file where this reliably occurs, even if it’s intermittent or a simplified version. That would give the team a better chance to understand what conditions are still triggering the behavior and whether it’s related to object types, fonts, or publishing paths.

If you’re open to it, you can share the file directly in this thread or privately through a support case. Either option works, and we’ll delete your file when we’re done testing.

I appreciate you speaking up here, especially on a long-running issue like this. It genuinely helps us make sure fixes are landing the way they should.

  • Is anybody else seeing this dreaded issue back again. I've been experiencing it for a couple of weeks I think. I can't remember exactly when it cropped up again, but seeing it in a couple of different client courses.

      Hello SamHill

Thanks for following up in this discussion! I'd like our team to take a closer look at your client courses, so I've opened a support case on your behalf. We'll be in touch shortly via email to continue troubleshooting. Thanks for your patience, and we're sorry if this has been slowing you down!

Thanks for following up and opening a case LucianaPiazza . Unfortunately I can't share this course due to the sensitivity of it, but will keep an eye out in future for occurences.

One thing which I think is a clue is it happened to files that were 6-12mths old and going through an edit cycle as they also had the issue with the border radius jumping to default if I edited rectangles with curved corners.

I haven't seen the text alignment issue for a while now, and I think that is because the recent courses I have worked on are from new SL files and not edits in older courses.

Thanks again for following up. I'm happy to close this case for now, until I find a course that I can share with Articulate.
