Building A Leadership Experience

Hi. I want to build a story-driven, leadership-development experience that's fairly interactive (branching) but with a scope of 1-2 months to build. I'm planning to use 4 out of 6 Goleman's Leadership Styles. Is that feasible for someone with beginner's experience? I want to use it as a portfolio for now, then expand it later.

Performance Problem: New leaders are not utilizing the most appropriate leadership style for the situation and direct report. Consequently, morale, work performance, and sales has diminished.

GOAL: Formal complaints about poor leadership will decrease 10% within 6 months as leads effectively apply the correct leadership style to the specific situation and team member.

Can you share some general suggestions and similar eLearning leadership examples? Thank you!

  • Hi Lester,

Welcome to the E-Learning Heroes community! ✨

This is a great place to ask for recommendations and gather ideas from community members! While I'm hoping other users will be able to share their experiences with this, I've gathered a few resources that you may find helpful:

    Hi Lester,

I'm not sure if you are looking to get into eLearning design (you used the word portfolio) or are making something for practical use inside your organisation? But in either case the output needs to be pretty professional and if you want to have an interactive, branching product, that's a steep learning curve for a beginner. Perhaps in 1 - 2 months OK, but be prepared for some rework!

Even if the end product is shiny and clever, it's also a big ask for any soft-skill online package to get people to change their 'comfort-zone' leadership approach. This normally needs to be reinforced by devt. conversations, objectives and feedback with senior leaders.

But what you can do is to create a bit of doubt that a particular favoured approach might be inappropriate and raise knowledge about alternative ones.  Good luck!
