Align objects to user specified location

Do you know if I can create a defined location on a page and they align an object to it.

Example: I want to have 3 locations for photos based on how big the photos are. I place an object in the 3 locations. Rt-click each and choose "define location". Give each a name, like "Photo Small".
Then paste a photo on a slide, rt-click and choose "align to Photo Small". The photos upper left corner aligns to the location.

I can then go to any slide and align an object to the location "Photo Small"

    You could add a layout to your slide master, insert picture placeholders and then position and size them as needed.

    I could do that, but you cannot add a placeholder to the top level, which means adding to every type of slide. It could also get messy based on what content options you want to have.
