Attn Dave: Variables

I attended your Getting Started with Variables webinar the other day and am having trouble trying to figure out how to capture variable results in a LMS.  I created a course that has 7 scenes. At the end of each scene, there is a true/false variable to basically attest they have completed that scene. Then they jump back to a main navigation page to choose another topic and launch another scene.

The intent of the course is to have them pick and choose the topics they need to complete (all learners don't need to view all the topics in the course) and have the LMS be able to report on which topics have been completed.

I am not sure how to make the reporting piece work.  Any suggestions?

  • Hey Paula. From your description, it sounds like you know what your'e doing with variables, so the issue is most likely in how your course is communicating with your LMS.

Do you know which reporting options you're using in Storyline? Do you know what your LMS is set to receive? When you publish a Storyline course for SCORM or AICC, you get to choose one of these reporting options:

    • Passed/Incomplete
    • Passed/Failed
    • Completed/Incomplete
    • Completed/Failed

You could try setting up a SCORM Cloud account to test your Storyline tracking options. SCORM Cloud can help you identify where the issue lies.

It would likely be quickest if you opened a ticket w/ our support team: https://articulate.com/support/contact. They can help w/ your tracking and SCORM Cloud testing.

  • Thanks Dave.

I will look into this a little more, and possibly open a ticket.

I think my issue is that I set to complete/incomplete and I only see an option to choose how many slides the learner has viewed... Am I missing how to choose specific slides they need to view?
