Auto advancing - why?

Greetings -

I am building a simple activity. All triggers require that the student click. But after my first question slide, the slides auto-advance through the next two question slides to the summary/last slide.

This started as a "select multiple" template, but I removed the template from all slides. I created my own "submit" button that, when clicked, shows a correct or an incorrect layer (which I also created).

It is after the user clicks the continue button (go to next slide) on either the correct or incorrect layers that the problem occurs. It advances to the next slide and then the next and then the next.

Not sure where this is coming from.

Ideas? I'm attaching a screenshot of one of the overlays with the Continue button that triggers this weirdness.

Thank you!

  • Hello Amy,

Thank you for reaching out and sharing what you are experiencing with your project file.

Do you know what version of Storyline you're using?

    • You can check by going to Help > About Articulate Storyline

In Update 54 (Build 3.54.25674.0), we fixed a couple of bugs related to a hidden trigger getting added to slides that would auto-advance the content.

Now all you need to do is update Storyline 360 in your Articulate 360 desktop app! If you run into any issues, please don't hesitate to ask for help in this discussion or a support case.

  • Hi Leslie - thanks for the quick reply. I just updated to the latest version as you suggested, but that did not resolve the issue. :-(

    Other suggestions?

    Thanks again.

  • No worries, Amy. That was my first thought on the culprit, but I'd be happy to take a closer look.

Please share your .story project file publicly here or send it to me privately by uploading it here. I'll delete it when I'm done troubleshooting.

  • Hi again Leslie - I'm just rebuilding those three (question) slides - that fixes the problem if I start with a blank slide and copy/paste the pieces. There must have been something hiding that was remaining from the template (probably something from the submit button which auto advances). If you work on it, I'd still be curious to hear what you find out. Thanks for your help.

  • Ah - I just received your email/gif after I posted this - awesome! Oddly I had this problem last week (this LA is a new version of that one) and fixed it as you did but totally forgot about that (ah!). I had just happened to see those arrows. I was wondering how I fixed that one.

Thank you!!!! Have a good weekend.
